The 20th Annual Winter Illustration Exhibition
18 November 2015 - 30 January 2016

Celebrating 20 Years of Illustrationcupboard

This Winter Exhibition is extra special for Illustrationcupboard Gallery and founder John Huddy as we celebrate 20 years since it all began in the spare bedroom of a West London flat! Since that first Winter Exhibition in 1996 Illustrationcupboard has grown enormously and is now housed on three floors in the world-famous art district of St. James’s in London.

Representing many of the world’s leading book illustrators Illustrationcupboard Gallery hosts exhibitions and events for many of the leading artists in this field. As well as book illustration the gallery also exhibits and sells orignal film artwork by leading animation film companies such as Aardman Animation and Cosgrove Hall, as well as work by upcoming artists for media and newspapers, like George Butler recent winner of the Victoria and Albert Illustration Award. There is also the annual political cartoon exhibition every autumn which has become a regular feature of the calendar.

The Annual Winter Exhibition is one of the main features of the Illustration world and attracts great interest from collectors, enthusiasts and the media world-wide. Ths year will be better that ever and includes traditional illustration names like E. H. Sheppard, Edward Ardizzone as well as modern classics such as Quentin Blake, Shirley Hughes, Brian Wildsmith, David McKee and many others. There is also cutting-edge contemporary artists working today with a focus upon Alexis Deacon, Oliver Jeffers, Laura Carlin and Louise Yates – and these last two will be in the spotlight on our Annual Winter Illustration Festival Day on Saturday 28 November.
With over 500 pieces of artwork included in this event we will focus on the 150 Anniversary of Alice In Wonderland with superb orignal artwork by Helen Oxenbury and John Vernon Lord as well as showing artwork by E.H. Shepard during his years as a War Artist.
