“‘I was looking forward to Coraline, and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I was enthralled. This is a marvellously strange and scary book'” – Philip Pullman, Guardian

“‘Sometimes funny, always creepy, genuinely moving, this marvellous spine-chiller will appeal to readers from nine to ninety'” – Books for Keeps

“‘If any writer can get the guys to read about the girls, it should be Neil Gaiman. His new novel Coraline is a dreamlike adventure'” – Daily Telegraph

“‘This book will send a shiver down your spine, out through your shoes and into a taxi to the airport. It has the delicate horror of the finest fairy tales, and it is a masterpiece. And you will never think about buttons in quite the same way again'” – Terry Pratchett

Illustrationcupboard gallery in central London is delighted to present the highlight of our autumn season – an exhibition of original artwork by the much-loved and greatly respected Chris Riddell. This year sees the 10 year anniversary of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, and once again the dynamic duo of Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell is set to enthral. To celebrate this anniversary Bloomsbury Publishing has published a special anniversary edition, with Chris’s superb artwork and a new foreword by the best-selling author Neil Gaiman.
We are delighted to be hosting the launch of this new book, and exhibiting Chris’s original artwork alongside the new book. Known for his incisive political cartoons Chris Riddell has achieved cult-status as a book illustrator which The Edge Chronicles, as well as with his previous partnership with Neil Gaiman on The Graveyard Book. This superb artwork shows Chris at his best, with strong graphic images and dark yet wonderfully humorous renditions of character. All the work from this book will be on show and available for purchase, alongside a selection of Chris’s other book illustrations as well.
Artwork will be show at the gallery from the 8th to the 20th October.
