An Evening with Lisbeth Zwerger, Wednesday 3 October
Exhibition: Tuesday 2 - Thursday 4 October 2012.

Book launch and reception with Lisbeth Zwerger: Wednesday 3 at 4.30pm
Lisbeth is one of the great names in modern book illustration. The following for her highly imaginative and superbly crafted artwork has a world-wide audience, reflected by the major retrospective recently held at The Eric Carle Museum in 2010.

Lisbeth was acknowledged as one of the leading artists in her field over twenty years ago when she was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal (1990) for illustration – this award is offered for a lifetime of achievement, and Lisbeth was only in her mid-thirties, which in itself highlights the respect and admiration in which she is held.

Working in the tradition of the famous nineteenth century artist like Arthur Rackham, Lisbeth Zwerger shows a skill and technical ability with brush and watercolour that is without parallel. Best known for her renditions of fables and tales, her latest publication TALES FROM THE BROTHERS GRIMM (Mineditions £14.99) is a classic and includes many favourite stories such as Little Red Riding Hood (image below) as well as some lesser known fables.
Lisbeth is returning to London for the first time in many years and we are truly delighted to be hosting her, and showing her work in Britain for the very first time.

There will be on display a selection of original artwork, alongside which there are offered for purchase eight of her artist editions, personally selected, signed and numbered by Lisbeth. The evening will also see the launch of her new book, Tales from the Brothers Grimm. This is a rare opportunity for all fans and collectors, and an event not to be missed.

Artwork and editions will be on show from Tuesday 2nd to Thursday 4th October, Lisbeth will be in attendance at the gallery on Wednesday 3rd October from 4.30pm to meet and greet visitors. We regret that she will only be available to sign books purchased at the gallery.
