The Spring Illustration Exhibition 2012

Illustrationcupboard is delighted to present its Spring Exhibition of original illustration and film animation artwork.

In a burst of seasonal fever we will be exhibiting newly released and exciting work by a collection of leading artists. Highlights this spring include unique artwork by Jan Pienkowski. One of the great illustrative talents Jan has recently had his Kingdom Under The Sea re-published, and to celebrate we show artwork for six page spreads from this exquisite book, especially created by Jan for this event. Alongside will feature newly released and impressive artwork by Graham Oakley for The Diary of a Church Mouse, one of the much-loved series of book which continues to be a best-seller from one generation to the next.

As part of the nationwide celebrations for the recently bicentenary we will be casting the spotlight on Charles Dickens, with artwork produced by Robert Ingpen, and Chris Riddell, sure to be of interest to all serious collectors.

From the United States we warmly welcome Anita Lobel, one of the leading American illustrators of our time. With decades of publications behind her Anita continue to publish, and we are proud to show her artwork her in Britain for the very first time.

Spring Artist Event: To celebrate the launch of the Spring Exhibition we are delighted, to host in connection with Walker Books, Shirley Hughes who this month publishes her first novel Hero on a Bicycle. This gripping war-time drama based on Shirley's own experiences in Italy, offers a fascinating insight in to heroism and escapade. Shirley Hughes will be at the gallery to sign copies of her new book on Wednesday 9th May 5.00 - 6.30pm. Entrance is free and families are most welcome.
