Illustrationcupboard celebrates two iconic animation characters from the 1970s and 1980s – the enigmatic Mr Benn and the longsuffering Danger Mouse.
A bonanza of animation art highlights these classic series and their creators David McKee and Brian Cosgrove.
Other film-based artwork will also be on show, such as Charlie and Lola by Lauren Child, Wallace and Gromit by Nick Park and The Lost Thing by 2011 Oscar Winner Shaun Tan.
David McKee and Brian Cosgrove will be at the gallery at 5.30pm on Thursday 6th October to meet visitors.

Shaun Tan - The Bird King and other artwork

Shaun Tan is one of the most exciting illustrator /animation film makers in the world today The first six months of 2011 has seen him win an Academy Award (Oscar) for best short animated film, the Australian Dromkeen Medal and Astrid Linden Memorial Award (popularly known as the Nobel Prize for Literature).
To celebrate, Illustrationcupboard is delighted to host Shaun Tan in the first major exhibition of his work in Britain. In an exciting multi-media event, working drawings, studies and finished artwork have been chosen by Shaun from his own collection for display. A selection of these will be available for purchase providing the collector a rare collecting opportunity.
GALLERY EVENT with SHAUN TAN 31 AUGUST 2011 at 5pm
As a special highlight Illustrationcupboard will host the UK book launch for The Bird King on 31st August (TBC) at the gallery, which Shaun Tan will be in attendance to meet visitors and sign books. There will also be artist edition prints and signed books, at cover price, available for purchase. Entrance is free and families are welcome.
Chris Wormell: Watercolours and Coloured Pencils

Christopher Wormell is one of the most versatile and talented illustrators working today. His versatility encompasses three distinct styles, wood cuts and engraving, linocut and, watercolours and coloured pencils. This third specialised outing at Illustrationcupboard now focuses on the last of these, watercolour and coloured pencil.
Chris Wormell will be in attendance at the gallery on Wednesday 13th July from 5.30pm to sign books and all are welcome to join us.
